Cultural Exchange Programme under RAVTE Network COLLABORATION “COMMUNITY EXPLORATION: AYUTTHAYA CULTURAL EXPEDITION”

On 31 July 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) and the Regional Association for Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE), presided over the opening ceremony of the international collaboration programme entitled COLLABORATION “COMMUNITY EXPLORATION: AYUTTHAYA CULTURAL EXPEDITION” at the Faculty of Technical Education, RMUTT, Pathum Thani, Thailand.

This programme, held from 29 July to 4 August 2025, was jointly organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), and RMUTT (Thailand), as part of an academic and cultural collaboration among member institutions under the RAVTE network. UTM, a long-standing and active member of RAVTE, has continuously supported regional initiatives that promote internationalisation, sustainability, and youth engagement in technical and vocational education.

The programme brought together over 50 students and academic staff from the three countries to engage in various activities that foster intercultural understanding and regional cooperation. Highlights included:
• Ice-breaking and language exchange sessions to build friendships and cultural awareness;
• Workshops on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including knowledge transfer sessions and the RMUTT Nature Challenge promoting citizen science;
• Cultural performances and handicraft demonstrations representing Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia;
• Educational tours to the Science Museum and historic sites in Ayutthaya.

This meaningful collaboration exemplifies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the importance of global and regional partnerships in achieving sustainable development. The event also reaffirmed the strength of the RAVTE network in facilitating people-to-people connections and institutional engagement across Asia.
In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art expressed appreciation for the active participation of all institutions and highlighted the vital role of RAVTE in uniting higher education institutions to co-create solutions and build resilient communities through education, innovation, and shared cultural values.
